Kalandra

Language guide

A functional language for parallel and distributed programming. The next chapter of Clio.

Start with a small program, then learn how to compose functions, work with data, and send typed work to parallel workers.

The examples below describe the implemented Kalandra port. They are compiled and executed by the project test suite. This is a guide to the current language, not a promise that every historical Clio feature is available.

Follow the guide

1. Your first program

2. Functions and pipes

3. Arrays and maps

4. Types and records

5. Local modules

6. Parallel execution

7. Complete workflows

Run the examples

Use the Try in playground link on a lesson to load its exact example. Loading an example does not run it automatically. The playground has a ten-second limit and supports one source file without network access or package imports.

After installing the CLI, save a lesson's source as main.kalandra and run it:

bash
kalandra run main.kalandra --strict

Install Kalandra

Current limits and port status

Source files use .kalandra and projects use kalandra.toml. Kalandra is a new beginning; Clio project formats are not supported.
